PIN set on user, unable to disable!

It’s real easy to set a PIN, why did Plex make it so hidden to disable the PIN?
The Green Lock does nothing, it is not a link to disable the PIN – as I’ve read on other posts.
Thanks for any advice on this!

The green lock has nothing to do with the PIN on a user (not sure where you got that information).

Set a Pin:

  1. go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing
  2. hover over your account / a managed user and click Set Pin
  3. set a pin and click save

Change or delete a Pin:

  1. go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing
  2. hover over the account (your own or that of a managed user) and click on Edit Pin
    • enter a new PIN and click Save to change the Pin
    • click Remove to delete the Pin.

Edit:
Found the official support article covering this

Thanks much Tom.
That is so unintuitive compared to most things in plex, but very much appreciate your help!

If you don’t mind… where had you been looking to reset the pin?

PS: I just saw what green lock you’ve been referring to; I take it is intentional not to have a “remove PIN” option on the Switch User... dialog.

I wish I knew, I think it was either on an older Plex forum or google searched. I’ll let you know if I can find it again.

That thread is 5 years old. The user interface changed a bit inbetween.

Thanks for the feedback.
I took the liberty to add a link to the actual support article covering this (see above) and to unlist this post from the tips&tricks section (outdated).

Hey, also do you know why Plex still asks to select my ‘one’ user every time I launch the player?
I took the PIN away (thank you) but it still shows my 1 user account during launching the app (tv or computer) and I have to select it before it shows me my media.
I am sharing my media with 1 other user remotely, and vice versa, but should that matter? I only have 1 created user on ‘my’ account.
thanks!!

Have you added that user as a „Friend“ or as a member of your „Home“?

Well it appears it only asks you the first time after the PIN was removed. thanks …
