I just switched to a Pixel 7 and when watching videos in landscape the status bar/hole-punch camera area of the screen has a black bar running all the way through and therefore the videos are not playing in full-screen. It’s as if the app doesn’t recognize that this is usable screen real estate. I’ve already gone through Android developer options and adjusted the force full-screen options and none of them work to fix this. Seems like this an issue specific to the app and not the OS reason being because I come from a Galaxy S21 FE which has the same 20:9 aspect ratio as the Pixel 7 and that phone had no issue displaying videos in full-screen that took up the entirety of the display.
Other than that, the gesture navigation bar at the bottom of the screen comes up when you tap on the video during playback (which is normal), but the problem is the UI is displaying in this same area and it makes it especially hard to adjust the slider for “Display Mode” in the “Playback Settings”.
Unfortunately, I don’t really see this being fixed as I’ve seen a couple other posts on the forums about this issue with the Pixel 5 and some model of a OnePlus device.
