Running newest Unraid Plex server beta and newest shield 2019 Plex player beta.
If I pause a show, after a few minutes the show will start playing again but the video isn’t displaying. So my screen saver for the shield is on but the show is in the background playing audio. Just started happening a few days ago.
yes, I was able to observe that yesterday evening. seems like the video is playing when the screensaver starts.

It doesn’t seem to happen on every video, as you can see Westworld didn’t do it. But then South Park did it at 11:49am today. It happens on both tv shows and movies.
I have also observed that when playing back any of the South Park episodes, I need to skip ahead 30 seconds when it first starts from the beginning or it crashes Plex. Ive only noticed this on South Park and it happens with every episode across like 50 episodes or so I watched.

@sixones Any eyes on this? It seems to be cause various crashes too. Im assuming fixing this will fix several other buggy behaviors. I posted my logs 9 days ago but never heard back.
I am seeing this as well on a Nvidia Shield and not on any beta, started last week. Resuming can be tricky afterwards and sometimes results in the video starting from the beginning
I am also seeing this issue on my 2017 shield pro
So far, this has not happened to me again. As soon as I see it again I try to share logs.
I am seeing it consistently in specific shows. Like South Park and Food wars. So for me its repeatable. But I am not seeing it on every show or movie.
I reported this to the devs from my own testing. They are aware.

Latest Betas (Server and Shield 2019 Pro)
Last night I had the problem twice and I was able to reproduce it.
Here you can see how the screensaver is displayed and the video or sound is playing in the background:
Then when I press a button it goes back to Plex and shows an error. The video stops and I have to go back to the menu to restart the video.
The logs are sent. (at least the option in the settings is on)
Hope for an early fix.

Just chiming in that I’m experiencing the same issue as shared above. Week old Shield TV, running latest NON-BETA Plex server + App and all Android TV updates.
Please let me know if additional logs or information would be useful at this time.

This includes ONLY the logs when the issue occurred. (I turned logging on, reproduced the issue, then grabbed them). Hope it helps!
I thought I was going crazy, it seems to me that as soon as the screensaver turns on whatever show is selected starts or resumes playing. audio over speakers, screensaver on TV.
This happens with NVidia Shield and Plex on LSIO docker, released versions, not Beta.
I am now forced to turn everything off when I step away.
That’s interesting that it’s happening to stable release too.
Dev is aware and it impacts passthrough audio only.
