Not sure if this will be of use to anyone without a WD My Cloud Home…I changed the security permissions on my WDMCH PMS to allow insecure connections and changed the Player to the same. That solved the issue. While it is not the preferred configuration it now works on everything.
So I’ve been having this issue with version 1.23.3.4707 on both the Server and Windows 10 Clients. Didn’t check movies, as I was only trying to watch a TV series at the time, but this is what I did to get it working again:
I was going to follow the above advice and uninstall and reinstall the server, but noticed there was a “repair” option on the windows uninstall screen. Hit that instead and it prompted me for a location for “pms.exe”, but there was only one exe file in the directory it defaulted to. It looked like an older version but went ahead and selected that file and then OK. It went through the repair process, and now it looks like my server is back to running Version 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4…? Not entirely sure what that a220 code is about, but it’s playing my TV shows again.
However, I’m still getting an error saying that my Remote access isn’t available, even though I have manual port forwarding setup already. Probably search for another thread on that issue later though.
Good luck to anyone else with this issue. I can see how frustrating this is when Plex doesn’t even respond/acknowledge the issue. With any luck there will be another update soon™ and get things fixed again.
