Playback Error Unable to tune channel (timed out)

I decided to double down and quit using HDHOMRUN apps and DVR completely. I reinstalled Plex on my Synology NAS and added some recordings to test it out. So far so good. I definitely think, at least with my setup, that the HDHomerun prime is failing to release the turners and plex is failing to find a new turner. My second HDHR Prime was completely unused and I was receiving the “unable to tune channel” error. I would not have to use Silicon Dust’s program at all if Plex supported MPEG2 w/o transcoding. With the Synology NAS, I can barely trancode a single stream on the Google Chrome web player or my mobile devices.

It still crashes randomly and does not record, forcing me to restart the NAS server.

I have the same issue. Using an HD HomeRun Prime with a QNAP TVS-873. Once I’ve tuned to a channel and quit watching that channel, I frequently cannot re-tune to that same channel (triggering the error). I must restart Plex.

This is probably the same thing? A little more detail (no fix) there

I’m experiencing this issue too. Using a DS-916+ with an HD Homerun connect quatro and Apple TV 4k. PMS:Version 1.9.7.4460. Live TV will be humming along nicely and I go to change a channel and get the never ending spinner. If I then try to access the PMS from another device, I get the Playback Error - Unable to tune channels (Timed out) dialog. At that point all channels are dead from any device. My temporary solution to “fix” the issue is to do a reboot of the NAS. Restarting the Plex service alone does not work for me. I also believe there is a coincidence with how long you watch a particular channel and this issue arising. - Needless to say this does not bode well for me selling the cord cutting experience to the rest of the fam.

same issue here. I haf configured a vu+ uno4k. After a while I can’t play Channels or record channels. The Same issue with an Netstream EyeTV 4SAT. Plex 1.10 is Running on a Ds918+. Attached the Logs.

I too am having this issue and now upgraded to 1.11 I have checked the HDHomerun app and it tunes the channels just fine but in the plex app no channel works.

I have this same issue using a WinTV-quadHD tuner, started after I ran the last update and cant get it back started on the 11th of December, and no fix after 2 weeks

OK now I feel stupid :frowning: just found this morning the cable was plugged into the wrong connector on the TV card. Must of done it wile I was adding another hard drive on Saturday. :# :*

My DVR stopped recording yesterday. I couldn’t load live tv when I checked today. I got “Playback Error Unable to tune channel (timed out)”. Resetting my HD Prime didn’t help, but restarting Plex server did. I’ve had the DVR for a few weeks now and this is the first time for this problem. I hope it doesn’t keep happening
