There seems to be a playback error. Its happening again two movies I play on plex and it freezes. Afterward, it shows the playback error. Please plex fix this. Give me an update when it is fix. I tried to watch stay(2005)movie but it freezes and show the playback error. I can see the movie is leaving soon. It did the same thing for the christmas candle movie.

Update: The live tv streaming on Plex also shows the playback error. It freezes. I haven’t seen any fix update. Therefore, I can’t see nothing on plex.

Don’t know if it helps but try to go to Settings and search for connetions or any of that kind, Set “Allow Insecure Connections” to “Always”.

See if playback works again.

It seems that older smart-TV’s don’t receive any Plex (and other apps) updates anymore due to EOL.

Which part of the setting of Plex app on my smart tv can I set to “Always”. I want to try it if it will work. If it doesn’t work I would have to delete my plex account because I will not be able to see the on demand or live tv streaming.

This won’t help.
Playing the ad-supported media from plex.tv will always require a secure connection. This is part of the DRM scheme which is required by the content owners.
If a TV is too old to handle secure connections, it can unfortunately not use the free content.

I recommend an add-on device, like a FireTV, nVidia Shield, or Apple TV.

For me and many others if playback does not work if you stream via internet on an older smart-TV the only solution is to set “Allow Insecure Connections” to “Always” .

This applies only to content from your own Plex server.
However, OP doesn’t have a server. He’s only using the free-to-watch content from https://watch.plex.tv
Which is only available with DRM protection.

My Lg Smart TV is a 2018 model. Does LG 2018 model is still old? Because I only have a smart tv. If it can’t work, thanks it was great using plex to watch free movies and live tv.

I have my 2018 LG set:

Allow Insecure connections - Always

Prefer Insecure connections - On same network

Server side: Secure connections - Preferred

I have no issue watching Plex.tv stuff

Which part in the Plex app is this part located? Because I went to setting, I don’t see the Allow Insecure connection part in the settings. I don’t know if it is the app update that remove it.

Thanks I tried it. But the advanced section has only Reset app. That only deletes your account and I needed to login. It still didn’t work. I think November Update took all those features away from the plex app advanced settings.
