I have issue with my samsung TV after 2 months of good plex life now i suffer
Anything i play i get “playback error” an unexpected playback problem occurred. I tried unplug TV/modem and reset TV settings. I tried to change to all across other quality video and i allow direct play and stream and disable/enable bitrate limiting all no success. I deleted the app and reset entire tv no success. Im feeling a little crazy and hopless i need help.

On September 30th, some older smart TVs (some LG, Vizio, Hisense, and other unsupported TV platforms) will no longer be able to use secure connections to communicate with Plex Media Servers. These devices are no longer supported by their manufacturers, and won’t be receiving an update needed to continue making secure connections to a personal server. You’re receiving this email because you’ve recently used a Plex app that may be affected by this change.
If your TV is on the same network as your Media Server, and you haven’t made changes to your secure connection settings, this change should have no impact on your experience.
If your smart TV app has trouble connecting to a Media Server after September 30th, please ensure that both the app and the server are set to allow insecure connections: On the TV app*, ensure that Settings → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections is set to Always, and on the server, ensure that Settings → Network → Secure connections is set to Preferred.
Note that this configuration does allow for the possibility of unencrypted communication (over the internet, when playing remotely) between the TV app and the Media Server, but connections will remain secure for those apps and platforms that support them. To continue to stream securely, we encourage you to consider upgrading your Plex experience with one of several updated and affordable devices, such as Google Chromecast, Roku Express, or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Thanks, this was indeed the culprit on my Samsung 7000 series TV with Plex app.
unfortunately, this did not fix my issue. Still getting the Playback Error. i was able to play a few movies, but no TV Series. can’t figure out what the actual error is…
is this verified? is there a bug in the code? is there a timeline for it’s fix? or a way to revert to earlier code that isn’t bugged?
TV-fix worked for me on two older and remote TV:s (Samsung). I think it might be something with certificates. Anyway, I’m fine with doing unencrypted transfer.
I have the Samsung UN43RU7100FXZA (2019) model. This started happening 3 days ago. Everything was working before that. What is going on? None of the fixes work. Specifically the insecure connection settings.
I have a Samsung 2020 TV and this error keeps coming up for me in recent days also… Ive just changed all the connections to "alow insecure connections Alwats and Preferred and its achieved nothing

I’ve had problems for a week or two with Plex not working on my 2020 Samsung TV and getting “unexpected playback error” problems. Setting Insecure Connections to Always has fixed it for me. It’s crazy that no one saw this coming and managed this risk.
Fix did not work on my 2019 Samsung so it’s not an “older model” so how can we fix this
I also have this problem and the insecure connection workaround does not solve this issue. UE43TU7100 TV which is only 12 months old.
Same issue here on the new Samsung TV’s using the official version, the older models work ok on the non official app.
Samsung TV about 3-4 years and same issue, work around doesn’t work for me either
Suggested fix didn’t work for me. Still getting the error on my 4 year old Samsung.

On my 2019 Samsung tv it plays the episode that just failed on my 2021 Samsung tv.
Perplexed.
