Playback frequently hangs/buffers indefinitely

Player Version#: web client / Samsung TV v2.012

A couple of months ago I started having problems with Plex playback - during playback it would appear to buffer (little orange spinning circle in the middle), and it will never resume playback.

This happens with both the web client on my laptop and on both my Samsung TVs (using Plex for Samsung v2.012). Sometimes I can watch several episodes without it happening, other times it happens every few minutes.

If I quit back to home and resume viewing (or refresh the browser when using web client) then playback resumes without any noticeable buffer.

All my viewing is done locally on a LAN network (usually over WiFi, but I’ve tried hard wiring and that doesn’t help).

The server does nothing other than download torrents and host Plex. It’s not super powerful, but it’s been doing the job without question for several years - until recently!

When it “hangs”, Task Manager on the server shows no CPU, network or disk activity from Plex services.

I’ve kept Plex Server up to date, hoping that an update would fix it, but it hasn’t!

Anyone have any ideas?
