Playback has massive video chop using nvidia shield.

My current system
NAS = Qnap TVS-682
qnap version 4.3.4.0483
client = nvidia shield (most recent version)
connected to the hdmi input on an OPPO UDP-203 which then goes to a JVC X550 projector
I have direct stream and direct play enabled.

I just purchased the nvidia shield. After I installed the plex app I started one of my movies and it played back perfectly. When I paused the playback and went to another movie the video choppiness was very severe. 1/2 jump forward or dropped consistently. The audio seems fine. This choppiness happens identically no matter which move I change to. Even back to the original movie that played perfectly. If I then restart the nvidia shield the first move plays back perfectly with each subsequent movie having the same issues.

I have tried this on a new amazon fire tv with the plex client installed pointing to the same server. This setup doesn’t have the issue at all. I can switch between movies without any choppiness.

I forgot to mention my plex server is installed on the qnap nas and the shield has a wired connection to my network.

No one has seen anything like this issue?

I have seen something similar, however I am not sure if it is the Plex app, or the Nvidia Shield. Playing after pausing a movie will result in some choppy playback occasionally. Stopping the movie and hitting the play button again fixes it.

I have seen this issue, typically when my shield is under a large load. In my instance it’s recording 2-3 1080p Streams from an HDHomerun. But I’m using my Shield Pro as the PMS.
