I noticed lately, last couple of months, that the Nvidia Shield will buffer video non-stop upon the first playback of a video file. If I stop the video file, play it again, the Shield will play it flawlessly.
Is this a known issue? I seem to see other posts with similar issues where the client will buffer and not play properly?
Definitely not normal - it may buffer a few seconds if slow or transcoding, but it should go after 5 or 10 seconds tops. The fact that it buffers perpetually and we have to stop/start again I think is a bug
I see this behavior on the NVidia Shield (have multiple shields), the Amazon Cube, and the Xbox One client (I believe, don’t use it much). This started happening a month or two ago.
I have seen this as well, although i’m not convinced it’s a Plex problem but more of a problem with the Shield and its Network Port. It has also done it to me when I have started the Shield from standby mode and tried to play a Netflix show. I have also seen it with the HDHomerun tuners if you access them directly from the app.
It might be that the network port goes to sleep, or doesn’t wake up correctly and has trouble connecting/streaming first up. Stop any of the streams, and hit play again and it works.
So I’m not entirely sure it is a Plex Problem as such.
I’ve had the same issue for a year or more just kinda got use to hitting back and playing again.
IV moved house changed routers, changed Nas , changed cables , changed switchs, fresh installs, resets, cleared cache etc nothing has helped
I have the original Nvidia shield
Will post logs when I get a chance
