"Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost"

Thanks for the clarification. The earlier error I highlighted at 23:29:06 appears to have been due to a seek that went to the end of the video stream

That very well may be. I only highlighted that time because that is when it spit out the message that is the title of this thread.

Are you able to easily reproduce the error? It is actually a different issue from what was seen before in this forum topic

Whilst the end of video stream indication was there in the logs, it does not appear to be the problem and was simply due to seeking to the end.

The error was due to the player getting a failure when processing an audio track

11-26 23:29:32.358 e: Stacktrace: com.google.android.exoplayer2.ExoPlaybackException
. . .
Caused by: com.google.android.exoplayer2.audio.AudioSink$WriteException: AudioTrack write failed: -6

I can this being referenced here as arising when switching to bluetooth headset

Could you confirm if any of this was being done ?

If the error is reproducible, could you give me the steps you go through and any specific audio configuration

I can reproduce easily. I have never used Bluetooth with this setup. Nothing is paired.

To review my setup, my main use case is watching an NFL game by recording it and starting playback 1 hr after start of recording to FF by commercials. With the FF = 30sec, 5 presses of FF is exactly enough to skip the commercial block. What I posted logs from was a completed recording though. I dont see any difference if the recording is complete or not

Hardware = NV Shield with Hauppauge WinTV USB dual tuner, 1TB WD USB3 HDD, Sony Bravia Android TV. All Ethernet wired, no wifi

SW = Plex server on Shield. Plex Android client on Shield and Sony TV.

Scenario 1 is use the Shield Android client. With this, no network flow. Everything is on USB and then HDMI to TV. It is very fast and rarely have the issue that I posted about. It is direct Play

Scenario 2 is use Sony Android Client. In this case, streams over ethernet network. This is also direct play. I tried with transcode with same error. I can easily reproduce the failure this way.

For audio, not doing anything special. The recording has DD 5.1 stream. I have passthough enabled.

The most frustrating thing is when this happens, sometimes I can recover, but when I cant, I have to start at the beginning again and try to seek to where I was which is very cumbersome.

Thank you, I have now added that info

FYI Sony TV updated to Android 8 Oreo, Plex client upgraded to 7.8.1.8186. Tested with Scenario 2 above and still am able to reproduce problem.

Fire TV Gen 2 - I am also having the issue “playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost. Please ensure the server is available and retry”. The only way to correct the issue (temporarily) is to reboot the fire TV. Movies are also stopping randomly during play.

Is there no fix for this yet?

Having the same problem since a few days!
“Connetion Lost”
In the past it happend from time to time during watching…I had to press retry a few times and it went away…
but now I can’t even start playing a movie or a music song.

Plex Media Server 1.14.0.5470

FireTV Stick with Plex for Android 7.8.2

Help!

This same error may get displayed for different issues. It is best to provide Plex for Android logs from the Amazon Fire and from the server so they can be checked out

I apologize. I actually posted a solution for my case a few months back and forgot I had reinstalled the app and forgot to change this setting. That being said… Disable Audio Pass Through is whats causing this error. This needs to be voiced to more Fire TV users or needs to be fixed as this setting and it’s use isn’t very clear. As soon as I disabled the Audio Pass Through all the issues went away. Not sure what the reason is but it’s definitely a huge bug that impacts a lot of videos. Not in a place to post logs at the moment but I bet this is causing most of the issues to your users.

Are there any logs posted before for the issue so that i can see what underlying symptom it gives within the logs - the error message is generic and can be returned for several causes of playback errors

Sorry! I did not see the post.

I will provide the logs as soon as possible.
And I will also try the suggested solution by “samtwatson”.

As there are so many posts in the forum about this problem, it is really hard to find the “right” one!

Will come back with the logs.

PS:
By the way; controlling (playing a movie) the FireTV stick via “remote player” out of the Web Interface on a different computer also does not work. Playing the exact same file via this Web Interface on the computer does work.

Also…on a Windows Phone I am able to play the exact same file.

Hello,

I tried “Audio Passthrough = Auto” and I tried “Audio Passthrough = Off”.

Sadly in both cases I was not able to play the file !

Thanks anyway!

My fire stick doesn’t have that option in the settings. How do we access the logs for these thing?

I’m on Ethernet and get the same thing. Drops out for no reason due to Plex server stopping on my plex tv

exactly which option ? The web page https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/ gives a number of options to get the logs. For Amazon Fire you would need to enable network logging in the setting and then capture the log via a browser after the error and select all displayed log output and copy and save into a text file.

Provide that text file together with the server logs zip - with server debug logging enabled beforehand

Please provide client app logs as well as server logs. See "Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost" - #340 by sa2000

When attaching logs, include screenshot of the problem / give time of the error

Ehhh… I was looking at the fire stick settings… I never knew the instructions were talking about the PLEX app settings lol

I’m getting this issue all the time. It’s really frustrating. It pretty much only happens with media that i’ve captured on my camera or phone. Films and TV Shows work fine. Also, I have tried clearing data and for the first few attempts at playing on a fresh setup it seems to work but then shortly after it fails.

I’m using a Fire TV Stick 4K.

I have the passthrough audio disabled.

I really want to get this resolved as it’s pretty much the sole reason I bought this product.
