Playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors

Some media kicking back this error

Have you modified the Transcoder temporary directory setting in Plex?

Does this path exist, and does the Plex user have access to it?

Sep 28, 2020 10:12:15.000 [0x7f3b4ab7d700] ERROR - [Transcoder] [eac3_eae @ 0x32f1640] EAE timeout! EAE not running, or wrong folder? Could not read '/volume1/Plex/tmp_transcoding/pms-9d540e3e-857a-49e7-98a1-163d6349c552/EasyAudioEncoder/Convert to Dolby Digital Plus (High Quality - 384 kbps)/ea01dd2a-53e6-41ae-88ff-5ca8322f284b-1_13851-0-1.ec3'

I’m not a Synology expert, or log-reading expert, but this error stood out to me. I’m confident I’ll be corrected if this is the wrong path.

Not sure I am following. I haven’t modified anything. What folder are you referring to? ```
/EasyAudioEncoder/Convert?

I mean the ā€˜ā€¦/tmp_transcoding/…’ specifically. If this was modified, it would have an entry in the UI, under Settings → Transcoder.

It may not be modified, that may be the default on Synology, and I may be asking a completely irrelevant question. There are lots of Synology experts around, however.

Thanks Volts. Nothing modified. Just recently some media not playing and kicked back the error.

See! Synology experts!

Something drips under pressure

Not at all, if that’s a perceived insult! A compliment!

But I don’t get the reference either. Drip under pressure? Now I feel a bit thick.

Removing the photos folder from Plex and restarting the service did the trick. Hit a limit?

OMG  :droplet: y’all are wild.

Thanks so much for the quick response and fix. The earth is back on its axis.

Does Plex have an active Discord channel by chance?

I don’t drip or dribble.
Drooling or dabbling are always options

Regarding the heretofore mentioned playback errors,
Might I have some logs to examine?

Did I say that with a professional face?

We don’t have a Discord channel.
I can see the benefits of having one but having one would mean we’d need split our time between forums and discord. There are many days when we hard pressed to address everyone’s needs in the forum as it stands now.

Problem already resolved. Thanks!!!

All good.

Have a great week.

It indeed solved the problem back then. I ran into it and managed to use the VaapiDriver=ā€œi965ā€ fix for version 1.20.3.3483-211702a9f-x86_64 but now after the update to 1.20.4.3517-ab5e1197c-x86_64 it seems to be no longer effective. I get the same errors. ā€˜[Transcoder] [eac3_eae @ 0x118e7c0] EAE timeout! EAE not running, or wrong folder?’

Any new ideas how to solve this?

Case closed with the version 1.21.0.3616 running as a package (not Docker container) on RS3617RPxs using INTEL Xeon D-1521. I had to remove the VaapiDriver="i965" setting from Preferences.xml in order to get back on track.
