Playback issues since new update

Since update 1.18.0.1846, it’s slow to load and anytime I try play a movie or TV from Roku it timesout and doesn’t play.

This version is a beta release. There’s going to be issues and hiccups. You might want to try downgrading to the previous version if you don’t have the time to help with providing logs, etc.

Sorry but I’m not on beta, I selected the stable channel.screenshot

Unfortunately, that is incorrect. The last public release was: Plex Media Server 1.17.0.1841

The version you have installed is a beta release per: Plex Media Server 1.18.0.1846 is available to PlexPass users in the Beta update channel

The current beta release is: Plex Media Server 1.18.0.1906 is available to PlexPass users in the Beta update channel

I’m not sure how a beta release was installed but it’s what you have currently.

I’d love to know how I’m on beta as well. Where can I get the public release version? I checked the website download this morning and didn’t see how to get a previous version.

Make sure when you’re on the website, Plex Pass Downloads is set to OFF. It should look something like this:

Maybe that’s how I got the beta, Plex Pass Downloads was on, does that automatically get me the beta release? To downgrade just install the version I download?

I happen to be home for lunch and tried to install the public release, says I can’t because a version is already installed. If I uninstall what happens to my settings and database of movies, TV and tunes along with my live TV and DVR settings?

Is PMS installed on Mac or Windows?

Windows 7.

Thank you, I’ll give it a try. I appreciate the help.

These instructions worked perfectly, just need to test if the playback issues are resolved. Thanks again!

Playback is fixed by going back to version 1.17.0.1841…

Funny because I subscribe to the stable public version and I got updated to the 1.18.0.1846 too and I’m having so much problem so I click on the link provided for the actual version for Mac and it stated 1.13 … installed it even though I was not sure and it then says that it’s not the current version. It lead me back again to the 1.18 version again and I’m facing again the same problems.

I am on 1.18.0.1913 and every one of my users is reporting playback issues since the update. I understand this is the latest public released version. With remote playback, every video is pixellated and then jitters after a few minutes of playback. Happy to provide logs or more information if someone official can jump on board.

The latest beta has been released and may fix your issues; if you’re on Windows, it’s relatively easy to roll back as well.

Seeing the same issue’s all of a sudden.
But rollback to 1.17.0.1841 doesn’t seem to fix this for me.

Server 2012 R2 (could be some windows updates as well in the last week)

edit: uninstalling updates as we speak

No luck so far, when I start something you see the cpu spike for transcode but even direct stream buffers. This started hapening few days ago.

Version 1.17.0.1841

Well, this thread is really for Smart TVs; however, in the case of iOS playback, interlaced video (e.g. 480i) isn’t supported by the native Apple player I don’t think; do you have the enhanced player enabled on your iOS device?

So what changed?
