Roku Playback issue "Unable to play Video" - Rollback PMS?

After instilling the latest PMS I am having an issue with media playing on all of my Roku devices (Roku 2, 3, and 4).

I am getting the error “We’re unable to play this video, make sure the server is running and has access to this video.” Playback works fine on web and android app.

If I fast forward past the first few seconds playback is fine, but this is kinda a PIA.

Is there a fix? If not, how can I role back to a previous version of PMS?

PMS Ver 1.0.0.x was released buggy and under tested. It should be pulled by Plex but they are quite unlikely to do that or even own up to their mistake. They also had the arrogance to remove the ability to downgrade PMS to earlier versions via download and even tried to paint that as positive step. I guess it is positive: A positively horrible action.

To downgrade you can find earlier versions in a directory called “Updates” in your Plex data directory.
Simply uninstall Plex but do NOT allow the operating system to “wipe out all traces.”
After that run one of the installers in that “Updates” directory. I recommend .9.16.x.
That will installer the older server without destroying any of your data.
After that completes do NOT upgrade further until Plex releases a new server and even then I recommend waiting until it has been out, without serious issues reported here, for at least a week.

Thanks for the response…

Small issue though lol. When I said I “upgraded”, my SSD actually crashed and I lost the install, had to start fresh. So I no longer have that “Updates” folder. Are those something someone could send me or I could find somewhere else?

I still cannot believe they released it as 1.0 and what seems like quite a few bugs. They had just switched to a new transcoder in the 0.9.17 preview releases so I thought they would have given that more time to fix issues with videos but then bam 1.0 and then Plex removed the older downloads. I am all for removing older downloads and trying to force people on newer builds, but they better be tested throughly and IF/WHEN a problem is found it should be fixed very quickly not two weeks+ after. This is a media server and when an update breaks something major such as video playback or buffers it makes the experience horrendous.
