There was an unexpected error during playback

On Mac OS Catalina I am getting error when trying to play a movie.

“There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”

Same on another MacBook running same OS version.

What server version do you have installed?

Are you trying to play the movie through the web browser?

Or through an app (like Plex for Mac or Plex Media Player)? If so, what versions?

Media Server: Version 1.18.1.1966-10fc2f8d3

Running through web browser Safari Version 13.0.2 (15608.2.30.1.1)

That’s a beta version.

Plex Media Server 1.18.1.1966 is now available in the Beta update channel

You might want to downgrade to the latest public (stable) version unless you want to report with logs, etc.

How do i find the stable version? All i see to download is that one actually

You can download from the Plex downloads page, but make sure the Plex Pass Downloads is toggled off.

Once installed, make sure your server is set to Public Channel for server updates.

I tried the Version 1.18.0.1944-f2cae8d6b now but same error happening.

Any more advice?

Most of my files just stopped playing and started returning this error:

I’ve just updated to Version 1.18.2.2058
What just happened?

I have the same issue - just upgraded to latest stable version and no joy 1.18.5.2309

Help please!
