Over the winter I ripped all my blu-rays to MKV (via MakeMKV) and stored them on my NAS. I was having no issues running the Plex Media software on my laptop (connected wirelessly), with the media on my NAS (wired) and playback on my TV (also wired). My TV is a 2015 Samsung running the Plex app. Recently I upgraded both the server software and client on my TV. I am now experiencing buffering issues with blu-ray MKV’s over 25 Mbps. I’ve tried rebooting everything on the network but it hasn’t made any difference. I can get playback to work flawlessly by generating an optimised for TV 20 Mbps copy (within Plex) but creating additional copies obviously takes a long time and consumes vast amounts of storage space. I just want to be able to play the original files flawlessly. How do I determine what the problem is? It’s frustrating as everything was working flawlessly. I watched Avatar at 31 Mbps before but now playback is awful. Nothing has changed apart from the software upgrades. I’ve always used Direct Play for playing back the content on the TV. Any ideas? Many thanks.
I have attached my logs for the first few minutes of trying to play Avatar.
