Since the latest update to plex on xbox one I’m having issues with playback. I can’t watch anything anymore due to constant pauses in playback.
I’ve disabled direct play to see if that addresses it but no cigar. Playback on iPhone/ipad etc are both okay so appears to be something xbox specific.
I’ve deleted the xbox plex app and reinstalled, and also installed the latest version of plex server from the plex member download section.
The media you’re watching has a pretty high video bitrate. Is the Xbox One connected to your network wirelessly? A lot of users sometimes see poor network performance on wireless connections.
Sadly still seeing the problem. I have enabled Verbose logging and attached. I’m still not spotting anything obvious (for these untrained eyes anyway).
Think I may have an apology to make. Looks like it could have been caused by an extra homeplug I’d installed at the same time as the new xbox app update. It may have taken Ethernet through the powerlines one step too far. I’ve disabled it a few mins ago, and so far playback is back to it’s usual smooth self.
I’ll report back if it returns to stuttering but it’s looking promising.
All the other plex clients were wireless… so maybe weren’t seeing the interference from the hard wired connection… It’s the only explanation that seems feasible so far. Playback is now looking spot on. Hopefully the problem won’t return.
This is still answered but for a different reason. After further digging I realised that it wasn’t the power plug causing the issue but a recent addition of a new external HDD attached to my mac. 5TB. Each time this was plugged in it caused the plex streaming to slow right down. Eject the HDD and problems stop. Like magic.
