Please details.
it’s hard to help if you hijack an existing thread and provide little to no additional information beyond “me too”.
e.g. of minimum information but not limited to…
I test it whit my PC in OOkla speddtest
Lan:
download 402.25Mbps/ upload 660.03Mbps
Wiffi 2g:
download 42.20Mbps/upload43.79Mbps
Morning!
I am testing more and the problem appears only in the files with video codec 1080p(HEVC Main 10).
Now all compress files is changing to this codec, more quality less data transmission.
What can I do to see this codec with my smart TV app
Plex for samsung: 4.25.2
Tizen: 2.4.0
Thanks
Ok… so just to get this straight (still a little confused):
You’re playing a video from your own Plex Media Server or from a friends server?
You mentioned that you are currently moving all your media to 1080p HEVC… so I suppose it’s your own media / your own Plex Media Server.
HEVC is quite demanding – from what I can find, the model you have supports HEVC but only certain profiles. That means Plex will most likely ask the Plex Media Server for a transcoded version.
You cannot change that on the TV. That’s up to what Samsung makes available to the apps (and of course what the TV supports by itself).
On what platform do you run your server? (e.g. a NAS, dedicated server…)?
If the server isn’t very powerful, it could be too much for it to transcode the HEVC material and therefore cause the low quality.
That being said… you will need to share some more details on your setup / what you play etc.
-it’s a friend server
-exactly the video codec with problems is HEVC 120 Main 10
On what platform do you run your server?
-linux
ok… if this is about streaming from a friend’s server. In that case… let’s check some potential limiting factors
Settings > Server > Remote Access > Limit remote stream bitrate (this is an advanced setting – only available if they have a Plex Pass!)Also… have you checked the video quality settings in your Samsung Plex Client? If this is remote playback – you might need to unlock a quality restriction on your end. For most clients you will find this under Settings > Quality (or Video Quality) > Internet Streaming or Remote Streaming. If your friend’s internet upload speed is really strong you could try setting this to Original / Maximum quality. – you might want to confirm this with your friend in order not to eat up all their bandwidth.
Do you get the same issues if you install Plex for Windows or Plex Media Player on your computer (trying to rule out / confirm if the issue is with the Samsung TV).
As stated above… the tv’s capabilities could also be the culprit… according to the manual, this tv supports 1080p HEVC at 60 fps max (30 fps for 720p or higher resolutions) and a maximum bitrate of 20 Mbps. So if the 120 in your codec (HEVC 120 Main 10) refers to the frame rate … that might already require the video to transcode.
Edit:
Link to the manual of the tv; video specs are described on pages 84-85 (other limitations described across the document)
One more thing…
I just learned that the Plex for Samsung app on non-4K TVs cannot deal with HEVC at all – so whatever other limitations there might be… Plex on the TV is definitely one of them. It requires the server to provide a transcoded version of the file as it cannot directly play it.
The green screen could mean that your friend’s video is in HDR while your TV cannot deal with that.
