Hey @ChuckPa, appreciate you finding the bug. Got the same here with Roku and Plex on Unraid.

From what you have seen so far, can you spot a work around - any local or remote setting that might help?

There is no workaround at this point.

The problem is the transcoder itself and its interaction with the Roku.

If you’re OK with missing the last 2 minutes of a video / movie credits – it’s the best you can do.

The issue is because the Roku accepts EAC3 and TrueHD 7.1 gets transcoded to EAC3.

The kicker is – If you direct play (No audio conversion) – there is no failure.

I can reproduce (or avoid) this 100% of the time any way I like.

UPDATE TO ALL:

I was chatting with the transcoder engineer last night.

  1. The bug has been fixed. It will likely be released in the next version
  2. I didn’t find it. Our co-founder found it first :slight_smile:

The transcoder should no longer core dump/fail on premature EOF

Good Morning ChuckPa,

I see that there was an update listed this morning. I just updated my QNAP server with it. I also restarted my RoKu. It’s still crashing towards the end of the video.

Jim,
You’d have to go back several versions – which will have unknown impact on the database. I’ve not tried doing such a big backward jump.

I will find out where the transcoder update is and why it didn’t make it into this release

I suspect it’s because the current is a hotfix and not a proper full-up release

@ChuckPa same issue over here. Always at the end of what we’re watching. Just bought Roku stick because Plex didn’t play anymore on my smart tv. Now we have it again but with this conversion error
