Playing DVR Live TV Channel causes Plex for Mac to hang ever since version 1.46.1

I reported this problem in the ‘Player-mac’ forum in July 2022 and have been complaining about the lack of answers or resolution since then.

From version 1.47.1 onwards attempting to watch a Live TV channel results in ‘Plex for Mac’ hanging with either a Playback Error: An unknown error occurred (4294967279)
or Playback Error: An unknown error occurred (4294967280)

Reverting back to version 1.46.1 allows Live TV to be watched.

I have provided logs and even a video of the problem and there has been SFA help other that ‘try re-installing’ which I have done multiple times with no improvement.

Maybe I was using the wrong forum?
I’m now trying here.

ITS FINALLY FIXED!

The version 1.81.0 update when applied via Plex’s auto-update method has fixed the hanging problem. I have been using it for a week with no problems. Version 1.82.1 is also OK

Let’s hope that Plex doesn’t stuff it up again. It’s only taken 16 months to fix.

Meanwhile I will continue on keeping a downloaded copy of the last working version in case it happens again.
