This has been happening since the 1.47.1 update.
As soon as you attempt to play a DVR Live TV Channel Plex for Mac goes unresponsive and the spinning beachball appears after a few seconds. Force quit and an

Latest Plex for Mac update Version 1.50.1 has NOT FIXED this bug!
I’m not the only one affected.
Is anybody from Plex investigating this???
I’m happy to provide more logs if required.
This will be fixed in the next version. It was Apple’s fault and we had to workaround a hang in their framework (in your hang log, [MPNowPlayingInfoCenter(NowPlayingInfo) nowPlayingInfo] is the problematic function which is Apple’s code and that is what everyone is waiting on).

Version 1.51.1 has not fixed it.

Playback Error:
An unknown error occurred (4294967279)
Error code: 4294967279
Clicking the ‘RETRY’ button brings up a paused screen of the selected channel.
Click the play button and channel plays…Until channel is changed and it goes back to the Playback Error window.
Re-installed 1.46.1 so that I can still use Plex

Latest update 1.54.1 has not fixed the problem. Still bringing up the Playback Error.
Ah well. Back to 1.46.1

1.54.2 update has not fixed the ‘Playback Error’ hang.
Plex for Mac Player has been unusable since version 1.46.1
Latest update (1.55.0) still has not fixed the ‘Playback Error’ hang.
The error message number has changed though.
Reverted back to 1.46.1 which is the last usable version.
Nope. Latest update (1.56.1) still has not fixed the Live TV hanging problem.

However there appears to be progress of sorts. It sometimes works after 20 to 25seconds when selecting a Live TV channel on a M1 Max Studio. More often than not it still hangs like the Intel Mac Mini does.

The latest update 1.60.1 has still not fixed the live TV hanging problem!
Maybe it can be fixed after the Plex elves have had their Christmas, New Year break.
