Continuing the discussion from Plex for Mac, Windows, and Linux:
Update to Plex for Mac 1.47.1 results in Plex becoming unresponsive when attempting to play a live TV channel (Live TV & DVR) - Still able to record TV channel.
Reinstall 1.46.1 and OK
MacOS 12.4, Mac Studio & Mac Mini (2018 Intel), HD homerun Connect Quattro
MacOS 10.13.6 MBP (15" 2010) Sometimes beachballs, sometimes plays but all menus and controls disappear.
I am having similar problems with 1.47.1. Plex for Mac goes unresponsive for up to 30 seconds when I try to select a movie or show and then again when I try to play the video. No problems with prior versions. Where did you find 1.46.1 to reinstall and how do you keep the app from autoupdating back to 1.47.1? Thanks.
Unfortunately there appears to be no updates backup folder like there is for Plex Media Server
(~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Updates)
Suggest you use Time Machine etc. to retrieve the previous version.
Having been caught before with a dud update I now manually download each update file and keep the last couple of versions as a backup.
To stop the autoupdating you need to āCancelā the update as it happens when starting Plex for Mac.
- Would be nice to have the option to turn off autoupdates.
Thanks for the info. It would be nice if there was a repository on the Plex.tv site for older versions as well as being able to disable autoupdates.
Same exact issue here - Plex Mac app completely freezes and beachballs when you try to start any Live TV Channelā¦
Worked a version or two ago, now nothing.
Even after clearing / reinstalling the app completely using AppCleaner - no luck.
Temp fix found by downgrading app to 1.46.xx
Update
I see others are having similar problems and the Plex for Mac 1.48.2 update has not fixed the problem. Grr!
Here are the logs for the people with more skills than me to decipher and hopefully come up with a fix

Iāve been having this EXACT same problem⦠1.49.1.3146-73559c78 does not fix the problem either⦠iOS and tvOS and web work fineā¦
