When I select a movie to play on my PS3, the screen goes to black with the name of the movie in text in the upper left, just hangs there and there is no response to any controls. I am forced to hard reboot the PS3.
PS3 then goes into filesystem check mode which finished quickly and then reboots.
Movies play fine on other devices, movies used to work fine one the PS3.
I have removed and reinstalled the Plex App on the PS3 and Server is at latest version.
Sadly, I’ve hit the same problem when I upgraded my server ;(
I’m aware that the PS3 version has been on ‘life support’ for some time, but I’m really hoping that they are willing to give it a bit of love and make it work with the current version of the server.
I’m a software person, if any of this is ‘open source’ - I’d be willing to give it a shot.
Boo - given that the forum doesn’t seem to have a ps3 tag any longer, and I don’t see any other evidence that PS3 is actually a supported device (including failure to respond here from anyone on the Plex team)… I think we’re sort of out of luck.
My current thought is to build a Raspberry Pi + HiFiBerry (clone) to replace the PS3 as a streaming box. This will give me something I can stick in my setup that responds to IR commands and will integrate with the rest of my stuff well enough.
Plex is very cool - but I thought buying a PlexPass would give me a bit more ‘support’ than having not bought one. [I’m also having issue with Managed Users and Android mobile – but that’s a different topic]
Oh yeah - and if the PS3 is really ‘not supported’ they should do something to remove it from the PlayStation store – because hard crashing when you run the Plex app is a pretty bad experience.
