Playing through mounted synology share slow only on shield

Hi,

I have a Plex server and client both on the Nvidia shield. Connected to the usb is a sss external drive. I also use a share on my synology nas through a smb mounted share in the shield. If I play something from the nas. It can take a very long time for the movie to start. If I play it from the disk, it’s only a few seconds.

I hear you thinking: it’s a network speed problem.

Now I also installed PMS on my laptop. Again I used the same share. Used the shield to stream. No problem at all, maybe a little bit slower then playing from the disk.

I tested my network connection from the shield(wired) to the server and it gave me a 800+ Mbit connection. This is faster then the disks he’s reading from.

I really don’t see what the problem is here. I also used kodi to play through the same share. No problem at all. It starts to play instantly.

Almost seems like something weird in the PMS on the shield.

Please advise.

Yeah I’m not alone !

I have exactly the same problem, both Shield and Synology NAS (DS115j) are connected through LAN 1Gb/s.
First of all I tried to record my Tv shows on the NAS but I had to renounce because I had some transfer problems.

So now my Shield pro is connected to a external SSD drive on USB 3 and I can access it through my LAN.
