Problem:
TV Series with EAC3 Audio will not playback, films will.
Symptoms:
The player loads but the spinning wheel just spins, I have yet to see an error message.
What I’ve tried:
So I’ve spent all day trying to solve this one, I have tried increasing the Watchers for inotify, only to find that Unraid started with 524288 which is way beyond my mere 15k directories.
I have disabled secure connections, no difference.
I have created a docker path for /tmp to /tmp, no difference
I have cleared the codecs directory
I have checked permissions on the transcode and tmp folders
I have added Plex.direct to pihole pointing at Plex’s internal IP.
My Setup:
I am running Unraid (the latest stable) with the official plexinc docker
I have passed /dev/shm as the transcode folder
I have passed /dev/dri through for hardware encoding
CPU: I7-8700
RAM: 16GB
Client: Nvidia Shield Pro & Firestick
Notes:
Everything works as expected, with the exception of TV Show playback with EAC3 Audio. Now, I do have an AV Reciever that will accept the Audio Passthrough and then EAC3 works fine. But the Firestick doesn’t have that option, so I’ve disabled passthrough (on the Shield) for this testing.
Testing a film with EAC3 works just fine, which I find really bizarre.
Looking at the logs, to me, it looks like the Transcoding works but the player just doesn’t do anything with it. I could be wrong, I’ve included both logs. You can see at 17:45:33.569 the Server finished transcoding the initial buffer and goes into Sloth mode. Then 26 seconds later shows the logs for when I quit trying. On the Shield you can see at around 17:45:12 it starts receiving data, and then at 17:45:57.248 there’s an event registered to stop playback. As far as I can see there are no errors, but there’s nothing shown on screen, except the spinner.
