Playlist from downloaded music

I’ve long since given up on the Plex Server. It is completely unreliable. Besides, everytime a new update comes out I have to do a clean install and start from scratch. I was about to get rid of my Plex Pass when Plex Amp came out. I’ve downloaded all my music onto my iPhone so I don’t have to worry about the server. But once again a problem. First, half the time I can’t get a new playlist to set at all. I press the button and nothing happens. Then, the only way to create a playlist is to create it using the server and then downloading the media. Meaning I have to choose between keeping complete albums, or getting rid of them to make room for playlist downloads. Are you working on letting us create playlists using downloaded media? I should not have to have a WiFi connection available to make a playlist.

I’m curious as to why you need to do a complete clean install and start from scratch. I’ve been using Plex for over 6 years, and the ONLY reason i ever had to do a clean install, was upgrading to a new PC/hardware, and even so transferring the database is super smooth.
but regardless…
you are the first that i have heard of that wants to create a playlist of downloaded media. it’s understandable, but at some point the PMS needs to be communicated to for that playlist to be saved to the server. From what i’ve seen, they are FIRST working on being able to browse downloaded media, as that is not yet possible. I’d think once that is possible, your issue MIGHT be possible. but that’s for a dev to say yay or nay.

Sorry, this doesn’t make any sense. Can you provide any more details about why you’d need to do such a thing?

There’s a problem addressed in the next release where this would happen if you tried to make a playlist while playing an offline item.

You do; playlists are stored on the server.
