Plexamp downloads and playlists don’t always work when server isn’t running

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but it’s been very frustrating.
I’ve downloaded a lot of my music onto Plexamp and I have a few playlists and it works pretty good. However sometimes if my server is down or I’m not near it it won’t always load my playlists and some or most tracks.
My question is why does Plexamp need tot all to the server if I have downloaded everything onto my phone. Shouldn’t it just work? Is this a bug? Or an issue on my iPhone?
I’m loving the app overall just a few bugs that need to get worked out.

Thanks for any help

Hmm, this doesn’t make sense to me.

Are you playing them out of the downloads tab?

If you’re having issues, post a debug log (advanced > debugging > share logs) right after you have them.

I’m clicking on my playlist in Plexamp which have been downloaded. A lot of times when I’m away I get the whoops cant find server error which because I’ve downloaded all the music I shouldn’t need to access it.
I will do that next time I get that issue. I just transferred everything to a qnap so maybe that will fix my issue.

Thanks

Where are you clicking on it from? Access from the downloads tab.

From the home page.
I have cellular data turned off, but shouldn’t it work since the music isn’t downloaded?
It still happens when I’m away from my server.

Is downloaded I mean

play from the downloads tab if you want 100% offline access.

Necroing this as I am having the same problem! I cannot play downloaded albums or playlists at all.

Steps to reproduce error:

  • Server on, download album.
  • Check album plays (YES)
  • Server off, select album in downloads tab.
  • Select play.
  • Play screen appears, then quits.

Any ideas?

I am very new to plexamp!

can you find the Plexamp.log and post it after you try to play the download? In mobile apps this will be in Settings > Advanced > Debugging

EDIT: deleted the logs… when I fixed things

I hope I got this right!

And thanks so much for having a look!

so it sort of looks like you synced the content from a server which doesn’t exist anymore (or you don’t have access to)?? Is that possible?

Nope, still there!

However, sorry for being a pain - I fixed it…

Just on the off chance, I deleted all the downloads, re-downloaded them and… what do you know? It all works now. So, at least I know a fix!

Thanks elan - loving the software BTW! Plex makes life so much easier for my movie collection, and now plexamp can do the same for my music!

For some reason I think it was references an old server (perhaps a reinstall or something like that). Glad you got it working and thanks for the kind words
