I created a Collection that contains all episodes from 4 different TV series. From that Collection, I created a Playlist that captures all UNPLAYED episodes from this Collection, and sorts the episodes by Aired Date. The playlist works fine, but it does not update after an episode is played.
I remember that 1 or 2 years ago I had a similar playlist and it automatically updated itself once an episode was played. So, right now my playlist has 143 episodes, and 20 of them are in Played status. I play episodes from Android, iOS, Web, Roku, and gaming consoles, and all of them properly mark an episode as played/watched, so I do not know why the playlist does not update. I have gone to Edit Playlist and hit the Update Playlist button, and that does not do a thing. I have also attempted to create Smart Playlists, but they behave the same. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong? I am running a Plex Server on an NVIDIA Shield TV.
A regular playlist won’t remove watched items. You need a Smart Playlist that uses the watch status as a criteria for that to work. Please create one and if it doesn’t work, please show the criteria you are using.
Hi. Thanks for your help. I am attaching a screenshot of a smart playlist that I just created. This time, instead of using the “Unplayed Episodes” filter that I originally used, I now selected “Episode Unplayed”. The results are the same. When the playlist is created, it has the correct episodes, but it does not update as episodes are watched.
Note: on the top you can see the number of unplayed episodes and on the bottom you can see each single unplayed episode (in the picture starting with S2E14)
Hint: If you see season folders you forgot the first step.
Press the triangle → save as smart playlist; and then give it a name.
And erm yes, I had the same issue today. Step one should be more clear and the implementation sucks.
