Playlist seems to do nothing

I have a playlist of the three Star Trek series from the 90’s including their movies. TNG, DS9, and VOY.

I have the playlist sorted so that when two shows were airing at the same time, the episodes are in the playlist in order. This way, I can have the playlist run for background noise while I work, and it will alternate between TNG and DS9 or DS9 and VOY and I won’t have to disrupt my workflow by manually switching between shows.

Except that it does not work.

I scroll to the last episode I watched, select the next episode, hit play, and it plays that episode, and then instead of the next episode in the playlist, plays the next episode in the series. It will play the entire series, ignoring the rest of the playlist.

Is this the expected behavior of playlists? Or am I doing something wrong?

I’ve been using the Plex App on AndroidTV.

Because you asked this question, I decided to test it out using a web browser. It works via web browser.

So I guess my real question is, how do I make this work in the AnrdoidTV Plex app?
