Please fix iOS Download for Offline Use (or at least give us a timeline)

I bought Plex Pass specifically to download for offline use. Having that on our family’s iPads is so useful when traveling, or, in general for our son. It’s been so frustrating to use since the big update many months ago.

  • we no longer can see items downloaded by TV Show (separated by series) or Movies. Instead it’s just one large list, that, for young children is especially hard to navigate and comprehend.
  • we can no longer delete a show by season so whenever I need to manage our iPad, or clear out stuff we’ve watched, I’m manually deleting episodes or films, one at a time.
  • I can’t remember if this was an option before, but with this new interface, there’s not even a way to select multiple items at a time to bulk delete.

I have not seen any update on Plex’s end stating when they might implement these changes back into the service. Can anyone from the team please provide an update? Especially during Pro Week - this would be incredibly appreciated.

Certainly an issue that many of us are a little frustrated about.

I haven’t seen anything updated since the AMA and other posts like this, so we can only hope it’s not far away.

Here is an update! This has been a big priority for us to tackle and you will start seeing some results from this effort in the upcoming 2025.30 release. That should include things like QoL improvements and some bulk handling improvements (bulk select, bulk delete). The overall downloads project that is active and being worked on includes things like grouping of the downloads (i.e. grouping of downloads by TV show) among other work and we will get more of this out as the work is completed here. I think that this update covers a lot of, if not all of the topics mentioned in this thread!

Download playlists and “download x” unwatched both that auto-update are what I’m waiting fro

This is part of the upcoming work. The ability to not only download a “group” (like a playlist) as well as subscribe to a list with logic (like “download x” or “delete after watched and download next and keep most recent 3 unwatched”) is part of that work.

Can you also please provide some clarity as to the Quality setting in downloads? High/Medium/Low is not very descriptive or helpful. The older resolution and bitrate settings were better, in many people’s view.

This is another area getting some attention. The work issue for this one is titled: “Show More Information with Download Quality”. While I can confirm it is an open active work item, I don’t have info in front of me to call out when this work is slated to wrap and get into a release.

I’m on iOS v. 2025.30 and I’m struggling to use the new downloads section at all. My app was a very old version up until recently and I’m so sad that I updated it. Downloads don’t group by show or season anymore, and with more than a handful of episodes downloaded it becomes functionally unusable. Is there a timeline for this to be fixed? As of right now it would be more convenient to copy shows to my phone and use the built-in files app to navigate them..
