Hello
I have a bunch of videos in my downloads area and feel like a complete idiot, because i can not find a bulk delete feature.
Can anyone help me with this. We have 2025, a new plex app, and i can not delete more than one file at once? Really?

Sorry to confirm this is the current functionality of the app until Plex can prioritise a fix.
Quite a few threads about it, including one recently from a Plex employee that confirmed Downloads improvements are under active discussion.
I find it’s simpler to delete the app after a while, rather than three clicks per episode to delete downloads one by one.
PS - I had thought that Plex might show the downloaded videos in settings /General/iPad Storage/Review Downloaded Media, just like Netflix, Amazon Prime and the Apple TV App, but sadly not. Nor can you delete media from the app listing under iPad Storage, like you can with Infuse.
One by one, no other option. Unbelievable.
if you delete the app and then reinstall it, it will delete all your downloads all at once, and if that’s your goal it’s about 1000x faster
Is there an ETA? I’m at a crossroads, I’ve been a loyal Plex lifetime subscriber for over a decade, and have persuaded countless others to join also. But, the downloads feature is completely broken in my opinion, and it either needs to get better or I need to make a change along with many many others.
I travel a lot, and I rely on downloaded content played on my iPad. At least, with the old app that downloaded content was easily accessible and not buried in a sub menu. It also kept track of watch status and playback could be resumed easily.
Downloaded off-line content should not be anccessed any differently than when you’re online and streaming. I should be able to open the Plex app and resume a video currently in progress from the home screen, or pick a new video to watch in the same manner, even in airplane mode. And if I’m online and have a video downloaded it should default to that downloaded content, rather than streaming. Absolutely none of this is possible with “new” app and it’s not only frustrating, but it’s very disappointing.
That’s good to hear but still no excuse for the broken nonsense they released, the new “experience” was clearly not ready for release and after so long it is still bad.
I share your sentiment, media downloads is a key feature for me as I travel quite a bit (local content is key on planes and in many hotels).
This update posted recently by a member of the Plex team might offer some hope:
Same here, I am a hardcore user of offline mode, I use it almost every single day. It is very frustrating, the most stressing for me is that there is no easy way to find out what the next episode in a TV series you should watch and that it can’t keep the watched status in sync with the server (plenty of episodes watched offline are not marked as watched in the server).
It’s not so much that the feature is broken it’s more that zero thought or consideration has been given to it’s functionality with lossing more and more features with each update, and what’s even more annoying is that when I started using Plex on my commute it had all the functionallity required to make it usable.
I remember a time when you could select content to sync to the mobile app from from the webclient on my laptop, the watch status would update from/to the mobile app and then auto remove the download based on it’s watched status.
Why can’t we have the previous functionality back again ? Why ???
Some progress outlined here, currently in Beta.
From Download / Completed you can
Delete or Retry all downloaded content
From Downloads / In Progress
Delete or Retry all items that are currently downloading
Delete or Retry all items that are queued
Looking forward to seeing grouping by Show / Series for dowloaded files & the ability to select downloaded files (ie not all, but more than 1). Any many other things I’m sure ![]()
It is good to see some progress, bring on more.
Hi folks, I am working on a Plex Server maintainance tool. If there’s any interest, I think the following could potentially be done:
This would be only an initiation of the process. The device itsel must be online and available with the Plex app connecting to the server.
No zombie downloads would be deleted this way.
I am not using the download feature, so you would need to write up some “wish list” of yours in order find out if it can be done to be of use for you.
Oh, while reading some of the docs, I see that Downloads are not like syncs, so it could be done for syncs, but for downloads, this probably is not an option. Let me read again ![]()
Edit: The client app is the only software which know about the downloads to that device. The server does not know much of it if it not currently queued for download or the download thing is currently running. Therefore, there’s nothing like mass-deletion of downloaded items except if the client app supports it. Getting the client app Plex internal ID and “simulating” the client app does not help either… the server simply does not hold the info that we would need.
