Hello, my name is Yoichi. I’m Japanese senior person.
My English and my information-tech skill is pretty limited, so it’s embarrassing for me to post articles to this forum. However, since I can’t find any Japanese support site or staff for the Plex system, I’m writing this to solve current situation.
I had been enjoying my family photos and videos installed in Synology NAS(DS216j) by Toshiba TV (connected by Amazon fire TV). But I couldn’t see those contents few month ago.
I installed Plex media server to NAS by using my main PC(i7-7700, 16GB-mem, 512GB-SSD, 4TB-HDD) by the way. I really want to recover my previous enjoyable time again.
At first I checked Plex support articles and FAQ items, but I couldn’t do my trouble shooting.
Then I tried to uninstall Plex media server from NAS. After rebooting NAS, I re-installed Plex media server successfully, and I can see every contents through NAS and windows
app(plex.tv site). Then I tried to log-in my account through Amazon fire tv, and my account was successfully linked to Plex app.(TV shows that “Account Linked” and “Your account has been successfully linked, please revisit app to continue”)
My amazon fire tv runs correctly, because I can see youtube or internet site on the browser.
When I check “Authorized Devices” page of the Plex media server, I can see “amazon fire tv”
listed. So I think my Plex media server is recognizing my fire tv.
However I can’t connect and see the contents on the Plex media server.
So as a next measure, I tried to have another Plex account. I deleted previous account and
got another new Plex account. When I manage to get new account, I got some alarm message such as “username or password is incorrect” or “username has already been taken”.
After I straggled those alarm message, I eventually got new account. But I still can’t connect
media server yet. Then I tried to install window version Plex media server to my wife’s lap top
computer(i7-4700, 16GB-mem, 180GB-SSD and 1TB HDD). I could get another wife’s Plex account, but same alarm(“username or password is incorrect”) occurred, and I couldn’t launch
window version Plex media server on my wife’s lap top.
According to the above experience, it looks that getting multiple account is not allowed in the same LAN. I think my attempt of multiple account registration may caused another problem.
I also tried to connect my contents with my iPhone and iPad. I installed Plex app to those devices and connected Plex media server successfully. However I can only see “recently added photoes”. I can see the thumbnail photos which was created previously, but can’t see
the contents. I also can’t see any previous videos of Plex server contents. This is also very strange for me.
The reason why I tried to install Plex app to my iPhone/iPad is just the trouble-shooting purpose. I usually see my photos/videos by synology related iOS app(DS photo and DS video).
I’m sorry for posting very long and poor sentences. But, please help for the following question,
- Is there any advise to find the reason of miss- connection between Plex media server on
NAS and amazon fire tv? - I plan to reset NAS system initially(clean install) or purchase new model NAS and install
every contents again. If i do clean install, is there a good chance to slove the current
situation?
( My concern is that even if I clean-initialization of my NAS system, Plex multi account
ploblems may still exist. Or there’s maybe some problems to my wifi rooter settings.)
