I have been using plex both on my LG smart TV and my Amazon Fire TV units (3 in total) for a couple years now. I recently moved and when I hooked up my internet again my LG TV Plex works fine. I can access everything to include my internal movie library.
All three of my amazon fire tv units can login to Plex, I can see them from the server but none of them can access my internal movie library. It shows a Red triangle next to the name and I cannot see any folders. Also, when I try to start a movie and cast it to the amazon devices it tries for awhile and then times out/fails.
All other apps work just fine on the Amazon Fire TV’s. I even ran hardwire ethernet ports from my switch with the same outcome. I have one device connected to my LG TV and can swap the ethernet cable between them. The LG always works and the amazon never does for my movie library.
I have verified security for insecure connections is set to ALWAYS. I don’t have any special NATing on my plex server. In fact, the plex server is wired into the same switch and isn’t separated out in any way. I have removed the app and reinstalled to no avail on all three devices. Any help would be great, been troubleshooting this for weeks.
Never good when there aren’t any comments after almost 24 hours. I am willing to grab logs, just need a bit of info on how to do so if they are needed.
Well, luckily I got a Plex Server update yesterday around 4pm. Seems to have fixed whatever issues I was having with access to my media libraries from Amazon devices.
The new Server version is 1.43.3.2951-1d73e3f3 which is exactly the same as before but it prompted me for an update and downloaded/installed something.
