PLEASE HELP: Media Server keeps crashing everyday on my MacPro

Server Version#: 4.66.1
Player Version#:
Plex Media Server.log (575.9 KB)

That single log file isn’t helping much as it only shows approx. 2.5 minutes from restarting the server to downloading the logs. Also please don’t enable verbose logs unless specifically asked for those. Otherwise your logs will be flooded with tiny pieces of information

Archive.zip (701.0 KB)

I just found out that verbose was enabled - so uploading again here
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-12-05_10-57-20.zip (3.7 MB)

If u can help me to understand debug process - I will be able to investigate it in future myself …

I was just looking if there’s some kind of representation of the crash itself. As you only disabled the verbose logs, they’re still filling some of the older Plex Media Server log files.

If you open the logs using the standard Console app, you can e.g. filter for lines with ERROR - as their type (after the timestamp and thread-ID).
Your logs show some errors but those are mostly related to media not being available/connected.

Usually you can find some entries referring to the Crash Uploader attempting (succeeding/failing) to upload information about a crash. That’s a good indicator to find if/where a crash happened. From the looks of it, the only crash observed by this set of logs is right at the beginning of the most recent log file (Plex Media Server.log) – this implies the actual crash happens at the end of the previous one (Plex Media Server.1.log).
It seems your server was doing some maintenance tasks when it crashed (it was namely creating video preview thumbs) – though the crash itself didn’t leave any traces (no preceding error messages).

Hi,

Thanks for reverting back with details - sorry I was down with covid so couldn’t look into it. I was trying to investigate this issue further but couldn’t get to the bottom still.

What would be the best way to overcome this issue? Is there a way to replace/delete bundle to get over this instead of debugging it?

Thanks
Amit

Mod-Edit: added some code-tags to improve readability of the log segment

Sorry… I’m not seeing anything that implies what might be going wrong when your system crashes.
Given it seems to be coming “out of the blue”… have you checked your system for common bottlenecks (e.g. running out of memory? Any actual error messages in your logs?

this is worrying for me too - I can’t seem to pin point the exact issue - so now the next alternative is to start from scratch again … delete the server and start all over again … painful but might be better option - what do you reckon?

I wouldn’t go there until you’ve actually ruled out other issues – in particular if there’s external causes (e.g. low memory).

If I can get online help to resolve this - it will be great. I have been sending the crash report back to Plex - so was wondering if there is a way to get someone to pin-point the issue plus solution

Can you see anything obvious in the logs?

I would try the following.

Looking through previous logs this is the only error that suggests that one of the service exited abnormally - I checked and this file doesn’t exists in my library

I am having this same exact issue.

its painful - I am trying to see if deleting the database will help …

i also have the same issue…

I managed to find a solution - I went into web browser then clicked on
settings → manage → libraries

From the directories I had setup - and the one which had corrupted media files - I selected option - empty trash → refresh mete data

it seems to have worked and the Plex hasn’t crashed for last 48hrs. fingers crossed.

it seems the problem has come back… I have deleted few files but now I can’t seem to see any particular files highlighted in the logs but the media server is still crashing …

Just quickly looking at some of your File naming, I’m surprised you have not had a lot trouble prior.
