I have plex pass from today.
I have added my titles from my PC and wanted to watch them on my Android TV.
But when I turn off the PC, my added titles are not available on plex app on TV.
It says there is no connection. With plex free I know I needed my PC to be ON entire time.
With plex pass I have understand that when I add titles from my PC to plex I can watched them when PC is turned OFF.
Any help much appreciated.
No.
The Plex Media Server application must be running to stream media from your PC to your TV.
A Plex Pass does not change this.
Thank you so much FordGuy61.
So, I will ask for a refund now, because when I contact them yesterday I have received answer that I can watch offline.
Thank you again
you can, but you need to download the content on to your device first.
plex isn’t a “cloud” service though, all content needs to come from your plex server in one way or another.

So, I need to download my titles to android TV via Plex?
I’m not sure what specific question you had asked and where / to whom.
As for herman_munster‘s point:
Some Plex player apps support downloading media from your server so you can watch them on the go. This feature exists for the mobile apps (Plex for Android mobile, iOS) and the desktop app (Plex for Mac/Windows/Linux). There’s a feature suggestion to also bring this feature to Android TV streaming boxes — as of today these devices don’t support downloading media.
You have answered my question.
I can’t download my titles on Android TV because its simply not suported as I can see in your link you have send me.
Thank you
why would you even want to do that though?
Plex is a server/client environment, so by default the content is played from the server (which needs to be on).
I wanted to watch my stuff when I’m not home. My PC is not always ON, and plex does not support Android TV.
So, tom80H gave me the answer, Plex did not before I have paid.
Plex does support AndroidTV, just not in the unique way you are trying to do it, and not in the way pretty much anyone uses it.
Simple solution, leave your Plex Server powered on, or configure Wake On LAN to allow it to be woken up.
thank you #herman_munster for the reply.
Where do I configure Wake On Lan to be woken up?
Don’t get your hopes up.
- WOL does not work reliably. It might work for some users due to the specific behaviour of their server’s network adapter and motherboard. It might fail for many other users.
- no Plex client is sending “magic packets” to the server. (that 's what causes it to wake up in a regular WOL scenario). So you’d have to configure your server to wake up not just on magic packets but on any network packet that reaches its network port. And that means in many home networks that it will be woken up every few minutes, rendering the whole concept pointless
- the name WakeOnLAN already implies that this only works within local networks. Waking up your server from the WAN (i.e. when you’re out of house) has even slimmer chances of success than 1)
it’s possible with the right combination of PC BIOS, operating system and router.
you can easily send a magic packet to the PC using companion apps on a mobile device if your hardware/software combination supports it.
of course, then you go down the rabbit hole of needing to have a sufficient upstream internet connection that would allow a useable WAN stream.
