Had to google that one! Learned something today, huray.
Though Iād phrase that statement very differently, thatās actually (at least part of) the problem with giving folks the option to make logging visible to only Plex staff and Ninjas. Many of the solutions provided on these forums come from other regular users. As an example, just among the users who have responded on this thread there have been over 250 solutions provided; and thatās just for the ones where the other user actually marked a resolved issue as solved. And logs were needed to achieve many of those resolutions.
If you give a user the option to minimize the visibility of their logging, I suspect that they are going to exercise that option for the perceived privacy benefits you mentioned. And by doing so, they will consequently limit their options for support to staff.
But youāve raised a valid point: There is some information included in the current debug logging configuration which could, potentially, be misused. Any solution to that problem is going to involve compromises, be they loss of visibility to potentially helpful eyes or loss of potentially useful information in the logs themselves via additional sanitization. As I mentioned above, I prefer the latter approach.
At any rate, thanks for opening a conversation on this topic. Even if it is conversation among just four users.
