I’m not sure if this is the place best to report what I’ve noticed not working properly now but it says go here so here I am.
Issue 1: 10bit x265 encodes not playing (spinning wheel on black screen or accelerated play bar then bomb out to menu).
Issue 2: Subtitles start way after the show starts then way of of sync.
Going back to 1.21 abovementioned works again.
Same behaviour for me.
The right way to report issues is through mail at ios-beta@plex.tv

I am having the same issue on Apple TV 4k BETA tvOS 11.2.5 - had to roll back to public release for this to work normally again.
I can’t resume playback on any of my movies/tv shows with 1.22. Going back to 1.21 or earlier and it all works great again.
@Noben is that the bug you reported on the iOS forum too? The one you sent me logs for?
@Lappen71 I think we actually prefer bugs to be reported here, so we can get a sense of how many people have them
Could you guys reproduce those issues and, immediately after, send us (via private message, for example) the Plex Media Server logs? (Instructions: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files)
@sergiou87 Yes. At least the bug shows up in the same way. If its the same bug a don’t know
I sent logs to sergiou87, as requested, today for both x265 10bit issue and subtitles out of sync, still not working as of build 1.23 (7860)
I can confirm the issues seem to go away if you set in the Plex player on Apple TV to “Always” burn subtitles as both problems must be related. Assume they are working on a fix eventually, but at least we can use the latest build now (assuming your problems were the same as mine).
Great @BigAlzy ! Then I wonder if you could try the very latest Plex Pass version of PMS from https://www.plex.tv/downloads/
It’s version 1.11.1.4760-58bcb2957 and that one includes a fix for the subtitle issue (without setting Burn Subtitles
to Always
). If you have a chance, please give that a try and let me know if it works! Thank you
Hi @sergiou87
I updated PMS to 1.11.1.4760-58bcb2957 as you suggested and turned
subtitles back to Automatic on the v1.23 (7860) on ATV. As far as I can see
the playing of the x265 10bit file was faster than before but the subtitles
still did not match (very delayed) plus the audio sounds terrible and
mostly coming from the right speaker. Putting back to Always rectified the
subtitle and sound issue.

@sergiou87 any word on the out of sync subs with HEVC files? Still happens with the latest version.
Nope, sorry We could use some sample files of those videos causing the issue: Generating Sample Files from Media | Plex Support
Thank you!

I downloaded a sample video and added subs on seconds 5 and 10 with texts saying 5 seconds and 10 seconds, respectively. Subs show as expected on a computer but the 5 seconds text only shows up at around 15 seconds through Plex. The 10 seconds text shows up at around 20 seconds mark despite the video being only 16 seconds long. I’m guessing there an issue with the subs being delayed about 10 seconds which is causing it to play for 20 seconds.
Thank you soooo much @Ghost3k that is super useful!!! I can reproduce the issue, let’s see if we can find the reason it fails
FYI I managed to reproduce the issue also in QuickTime, so it’s either a server bug or an AVPlayer bug. I hope it’s the former, because at least we can fix it, otherwise we have to wait for Apple to fix their player
Our transcoding and HLS expert will look into this when he has a chance
Good to know. Thanks for the updates.
As mentioned in https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1654271/#Comment_1654271 it’s already been fixed on the server side. It was harder than expected, sorry for keeping you waiting.
Can confirm the subs issue is fixed with the new update. Thanks @sergiou87
