No video showing when subtitles is on

Server Version#: Several of the latest, The first 1.18.0.1944 till the last 1.18.2.2029
Player Version#: ATV, latest

My server is a Synology DS918+. The problem is this: When installing the latest server everything looks OK on my Apple TV until I choose subtitles. Using subtitles the video picture is messed up and looks like a colourful snowy blizzard. The video is playing cause I can hear the voices. Media player for iOS and for Mac seems OK. It´s only the Apple TV that have these problems. Hardware encoding is enabled for my server.
What´s surprises me is that quite many plex server versions has been launched without solving the problem. The last version that did work for me is PlexMediaServer-1.18.0.1944-f2cae8d6b-x86_64 from 13th of October. All versions after that one has the same problem with subtitles on.
Luckily I managed to find a working version in my Download-folder. It has been many update-installs, uninstalls and then installing the latest working version for me the latest 4-5 weeks.
So my question is: Are there any Plex-people here, or others, who can answer me why this subtitle-problem is not addressed?

Did not resolve the problem. After removing the media driver I even restarted my Synology. No change. Everything just as I described in my first post.
The Plex Media Player on my Mac is playing fine with subtitles on. Does that mean that the problem is located tol the Apple TV?

Attached is an image showing how my TV looks like with the latest version of Plex server.

For the chipset you have the only work around is to disable HW transcoding and await a fix.

Is that a Plex fix or a Synology fix?
Still I wonder why it works fine for the Plex Media Player for my MacBook but not for my Apple TV?

Plex Fix.

Plex Media Player supports a wider range of Codec/Format/Subtitle combinations and probably isn’t asking the server to transcode.

If you check the dashboard during playback you will see the difference between Apple and PMP playback.

I have a temporary workaround while we fix it. The root problem is in the Intel-provided driver.

  1. Control Panel - Terminal & SNMP - enable ssh
  2. Sign into the Synology using SSH or Putty
  3. the commands below
sudo -su root
cd "/var/packages/Plex Media Server/targets/lib/dri"
ls
rm -f iHD*.so
ls

You will notice the iHD_drv_video.so file has been removed.

  1. Now restart PMS

You will need perform these steps until we repair the driver.
The team is working on it now.

When can we expect an official Plex fix?

I also have been bugged by this issue for almost half a year now. I am on QNAP TS-453Be, CPU is Intel® Celeron® J3455 quad-core 1.5GHz.

Engineering has given no indications of when.

Updating:

Look at the Plex Media Server Release Announcement thread.

Progress has been made.

Would you be able to put a link to where the progress has been talked about or announced?

Use the forum search: “Plex Media Server release”

It’s the first result.

Specifics regarding the transcoding issue are spread throughout the forum.
