I’m having an issue with All Hail King Julien where season 5 metadata has become an unholy mismatch of season 5 and 6. What I’ve noticed is that tvdb has everything correct but tmdb is missing season 5 entirely and season 6 is listed in its place. This is probably due to season 5 having a special name “Exiled”. But it’s super weird, like every other episode has the wrong metadata rather than the whole season being wrong or correct. Season 6 lists as normal.
I’m using the plex agent and I’m not sure what else would break if I changed it now. I tried to make a tmdb account to fix the issue myself but it won’t let me And I can’t manually fix individual episodes or seasons.
I’ll just give quick answer since I need to head out of the house soon. Looks like TMDB has what you called S5 Exiled as a separate show. The season 5 on TMDB is what you would call season 6 and at least the one episode I looked at didn’t have external IDs pointing to TVDB. From what I know of how the Plex agent works, this will be a bit of a mess to clear up.
Oh, just looked on IMDB and they list the Exiled season as a separate how as well. Cleanest way to fix it will be to move your s5 to an “All King Julien Exiled” show and then rename your s6 to match the TMDB s5
That would probably work but Exiled being a separate show is definitely wrong in general. It’s a direct continuation of S4 and S6 is a direct continuation of S5 (exiled)
I suspect you will likely not get tvdb episode ordering to work for this show, especially the exiled episodes. They (tvdb) seem to consider All Hail King Julien: Exiled a season of the main show whereas tmdb and imdb see this is a different show.
As plex uses a consolidated metadata approach (you cannot tell plex to go and just use tvdb) there code is flawed when it comes to shows like this which are radically different between online metadata provides.
However, in an attempt to fix this I have added the episode ids for both https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71867-all-hail-king-julien-exiled and https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/61751-all-hail-king-julien linking them to the ones listed at https://www.thetvdb.com/series/all-hail-king-julien. I have also added the imdb ids.
This may or may not help, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. So, give it 48/72 hours for these edits to make it to plex and see then if the tvdb order works. If not then your only alternative is to use tmdb episode listings unless plex themselves decide to fix it (unlikely IMO)!
