When matching “The Garden” Plex matches to the 2023 release on TheTVDB for a Christian Kids Cartoon ( The Garden - TheTVDB.com ), but also to the 2013 Japanese Anime on TheMovieDB Warning NSFW, TMDB ID 97920. Because of this, it has a mixture of data and posters from both.
@OttoKerner can someone take a look at the backend links for these shows to see if they are linked and if so, break them apart?
I was just able to recreate it. The posters are mixed as as the descriptions. I created the show with the tvdbid in the folder name and manually tried to match as well, same result.
This seems like a pretty serious error, and I think really highlights just how important it is that companies that choose to control their own metadata actually devote adequate staffing and resources to the problem. Peoples children shouldn’t have to be exposed to pornography because venture capital investors asked for milquetoast social media functions be added to the media server and this necessitated downstream metadata caching that doesn’t work.
Yep. It is mixed up. I’m seeing same on my system.
I sent a note to the Plex metadata team.
Here’s a sorta workaround:
Using naming/organization below.
Edit show & choose TVDB Aired ordering.
Refresh metadata.
Show description is still for the anime. You can manually edit it.
Show poster & season poster are OK.
Episode names & descriptions are correct.
No episode posters.
I think part of the the problem here is each show listing is unique to the metadata provider. The 2023 show only exists on theTVDB, while I’m only finding a listing on TMDB for the hentai. Adding a record for the Christian animation to the TMDB would mean an external link associating the two can be made and that will help keep the metadata separate.
