I have seen a number of other posts about it, but no official Plex reply yet. When/can we expect to see Plex or Plexamp as a native app for AAOS (Android Automotive Operating System)? It appears there are more vehicles using it natively all the time as it is becoming far more widely adopted, and for those of us with these vehicles having to resort to either Bluetooth or the free version of Spotify is frustrating.
The demand hasn’t gotten anywhere close compared to the effort to support it, unfortunately.
Hi Elan,
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it
If I may ask, what are the barriers to making it work? As someone who knows nothing about the AAOS vs Android differences, I assume it’s not as simple as making a few tweaks to get it in the car?
Just a lot of technical work, and none of us have a car with AAOS so it would be purely in emulator.
Hi @elan, you’re surely aware of the unofficial Plex audio player for AAOS: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.berkovitz.plexaaos
This meets the demand in a very basic way - it only allows playing from playlist - but seems stable, and at least proves the connectivity/integration is possible.
To have an official port of Plexamp for AAOS would be wonderful. How do we upvote this for development?
+1.
As my Volvo does not support Android Auto, but has AAOS on board, this would be highly appreciated.
