Im quite new to plex, but i have this strange problem with player on TV would suddenly start recoding the files it was playing direct earlier.
I have a feeling this happens after an analysis of a library. I have reseted plex database and files start playing direct again, and after some time, they again switch to recoding.
info shows something like recoding h264>h264 and AC3>AC3.
This happens to some of the files, but obviously this is some kind of analysis bug.
How can i report such things and where?
Copy the contents of the Plex media info XML of a video after you have reset (Plex Dance 'd) it.
Then do the same after the video starts to transcode on playback.
Compare the two versions of the XML and/or post them here.
(DON’T post the link to the XML files on your Plex server)
Thank you for answering.
I have created a new instance of the library (moved /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library to backup) and added the problematic files. They play fine using direct for both audio and video. working.zip (2.6 KB)
Second xml is from my existing library (where they recode) and it seems the same except for id’s. not working.zip (2.7 KB)
Another thing that I have noticed. After files start recoding, I cannot re-add them to new library on the same server. Same file in any library will fail to play normally until I delete entire Library folder on the server.
So this doesn’t look like a metadata problem. This is something different.
PS. Plex Dance doesn’t work. Only Library delete helps
Having examined the xml files, I think this is not about analysis. Because both versions haven’t been analysed thoroughly.
Is “Perform extensive media analysis during maintenance” disabled on your server?
(under Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks)
If the analysis succeeded, you will see an additional XML property named requiredBandwidths=" , , , , , , , " appear for the file as a whole, as well as for each individual video, audio, and subtitle stream within.
