So maybe I’m the only one. But it seems Plex on nvidia shield is just an awful experience.
Constantly having to close out Plex because either a) my tv shows audio is lagging behind the video b) I have to keep hitting ‘retry’ for subtitles or c) my video just sits on a black screen with a circle
So I can watch 1 show with subtitles - but if I go to search for subtitles in the 2nd show it’ll keep saying error hit retry.
It constantly buffers before the show even starts - it’ll just sit on a black screen. This is a 1080p show - my server can handle REMUX 4K content no problem. It’s also a local server so direct playback.
Confused as to why there’s so many issues that I face on nvidia shield but never on any other devices.
What’s the deal with nvidia shield? Is it the shield or Plex?
I don’t search for subtitles using Plex, but other than that, it generally works fine for me. I have had a few issues, but they don’t ruin the overall experience. Plus, the devs know about them and seem to be making progress (one was fixed in the most recent beta release (at least for me).
I have said on these forums before that I think the Android TV client seems to get less developer attention than, say, the Roku client. Perhaps the cause of a lot of problems is that Android is a more difficult platform to work with. And to be sure, the Android and/or Nvidia folks have caused their fair share of problems that have made life difficult for us, and likely for Plex.
I still think the Shield is the best streaming device, and I remain hopeful that the situation improves.
