Plex and Plexamp do not see DLNA player

Server Version#: 1.21.3.4021
Player Version#: Plexamp 3.4.1

I use android and ios devices to stream from my Qnap NAS to different players around my home, (Bose, Yamaha, Chromecast, PC) and almost sure Plex and Plexamp used to be able to see all of them players, at least I remember seeing my Yamaha there, lately I only see the chromecasts.

Other apps I use have no problem finding and playing on any of the other devices including chromecast

Here I would like to focus on PlexAmp, but the Plex server has the same issue by not even seeing the chromecasts. I tend to believe my Plex server settings are not correct, but can’t seem to figure out anything other than having DLNA enabled.
Any ideas?
Thank you all.

Plex clients are not DLNA client and therefore cannot work with other DLNA devices.

The Plex DLNA server is a fallback mechanism to allow DLNA devices to connect to your server, but it does not work with Plex clients.

Is it still on the todo list?

His comment was about Chromecast not DLNA as far as I can tell. I can pretty much guarantee you, it will never work with DLNA

Thanks everyone for the follow up. I get what MovieFan.Plex says; and me not understanding the technology, I have to ask: Why does it not work, licensing or tech issues ? and are there plans to make it work with DLNA devices?
Thank you

Tech issue. Just like other casting technologies, DLNA uses it’s own set of commands. Unfortunately, DLNA is not backed by any single company (Chromecast by Google, Airplay by Apple, etc.) so there aren’t any standards or updates. It’s an old tech that hasn’t changed in a long time. There are no plans to include DLNA at this time.

There is a feature request so go add your vote. PLEX as DLNA Control Point
