Plex and Seagate Personal Cloud help please!

Hi all,

I am not the most competent IT person so please bear with me! Basically I have a seagate personal cloud storage unit that I have all my movies and TV shows on. What I would ideally like to do is link this with the Plex media server for my Samsung Smart TV, iPad, MacBook etc as I really like the Plex interface.

However…when I tried to do this, using the paid for Plex Pass, the system would not work properly, it struggled with connections and the buffering element between the Seagate Personal Cloud Server and the TV was intolerable.

Any ideas on what I can do? What I want to be also able to do, as I travel a lot for work, is be able to watch my media remotely on my laptop or iPad, without having to download in advance as I forget!! Of course I know I need to be in a Wifi location to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really like the Plex system and want to use it but at the moment it just isn’t practical.

Thanks all!!

Lewis

Hi, what device are you running plex media server on?

I set it up on my MacBook and then have downloaded the apps for my Samsung smart tv and iPad

Hi MeatBall, I bought a Seagate Personal Cloud just for the Plex capability. I set up the cloud based media server but any time I try and play a video on an app I’m told the server is too slow. That’s even when the NAS device is hook up directly to a router.

What can be done about this? I have since seen on the web very poor reviews about the this NAS product. Seagate have been advertising it as a Plex product which it simply is not if it doesn’t work.

I just need to know if I bought an incompatible NAS drive or if its worth trying a few other things.

Thanks,

Luke
