Plex is what Apple could be if you think it can’t be worst in life.
Plex think it knows what’s best for us and what we should have and deserve,
Plex completely remove audio setting from the Desktop app. If you’re using HDMI to sound system, you can’t tell the player your sound system can handle atmos, DTS x itself. Plex has removed the option for Full Screen TV Mode. They set their own size for movie posters. They don’t have an option for user defined. There are bluray movie poster out there , all keep same ratio. But when you use them as your movie posters, they all get cut. It seems Plex only distributed their app because they can’t have a place big enough for us all to come, You can use but you can’t use setting, more like those work computers.
The new player is meant to be a replacement for the store app, which is a fairly basic player. This one is a bit more robust in terms of codecs but is not meant for use as a HTPC. If you want all the bells and whistles, keep using PMP.
I have a Dell Alienware Area 51 R7 sending audio through HDMI. I can direct play a movie file and it would play either in Atmos or DTS:X using VLC Player or Windows TV and Movie app. Why Plex is unable to do this much?
