The Android app for Plex is complete garbage. Specifically, I’d like to see it implement offline functionality. I know you can “download” items from your library but it seems like you can’t actually access the downloaded items unless you’re online…or at least it’s very fraught trying to do that. I moved to Plex after Subsonic stopped updating the Android app and I find myself wishing that didn’t happen. The Subsonic app was so much easier and more intuitive to use. You could pin items that you wanted to have access to offline and it just worked. Also, you could manage how much local storage you wanted to use for offline files. Also, you could download an entire playlist for offline use. I want to pay the Subsonic developer like 100 dollars per year to make that app usable again. Plex is annoying to the point that I might just stop listening to music on my phone. I realize i’m in the minority of folks that don’t want to use Amazon music or Apple music or Tidal or whatever but aren’t there enough of us that would pay money to use a product that actually works? yeah, I know…no

Have you tried Plexamp? It’s specifically designed for music, and was only just made available to users who don’t have a Plex Pass. The only downside I know of is that a single download (playlist, artist) is limited to 24 hours, which is a dealbreaker for some, but not an issue for others.
Yeah that’s what I have been using. It’s completely garbage
If you have downloaded music in Plexamp, but you cannot play it without an internet connection that is a bug. I do not know how to get logs out of Plexamp but if you can provide them in this thread, then they might be able to fix the problem.
Without details, there is zero chance of getting a bug fixed.
There is also zero chance of getting help from the Plexamp team or the user community when you title your post as such…
Oh, there was a non zero chance if I titled my post appropriately… Lol
Not everybody is looking for a solution to their problem.
If someone is not happy with any music app they can find for their phone I’d say Plexamp is not the issue
If Plexamp isn’t letting you access your downloaded music when you’re offline, it would be a terrible bug and we would fix it. It sounds like you’re just ranting for the sake of ranting, so I’m not sure there much we can do to help, but we’re here if you need us.
This is just my opinion.
I absolutely love plexamp so don’t agree with the OP.
…But getting the most out of downloads is not intuitive for my brain at least, and it took me a while to work it out.
I’m not sure why when you get to downloads you can only choose an album or go back out to playlists you have created.
Why are there not the same controls as in other areas of the library like play (all) or shuffle?
