Plex Android Client Broken on Nvidia Shield Since 8.23

After the Plex app on my Nvidia Shield Pro updated to 8.23.1.28053, I started experiencing problems with TV shows. I have a playlist set up and when I try to access it, I get a “Media Unavailable” error. If I open a show, all of the played episodes are missing the played marker. If I ask the app to resume a show, it plays the first episode instead of jumping to the next unplayed episode. “Mark as Played” and “Mark as Unplayed” don’t work. I tried 8.24 beta and had the same problems. Went down to 8.22 and all functionality has been restored.

I agree. I have sooooo many issues with the Plex Client for Nvidia Shield that I am about ready to nuke the Shield and go back to my Roku.

That’s crappy, so that’s really saying something, I think.

My general experience with Plex has been much better than Roku. Roku required more transcoding and I was often looking at a spinning circle while playback started up. The Shield usually starts playing immediately and provides a much better experience when skipping forward or backward. And the Shield supports DTS-HD, the main reason I switched. But I do see lots of threads here about problems Shield owners are having that they shouldn’t be having. It is a little sad.

Still broken in 8.25.

Still broken in 8.27.

Still broken in 8.29.

Try the latest beta (8.30.0-x) and turn of refresh rate matching that is the working combo I have found.

For his issue, I don’t see how refresh matching would be a problem (and I really wouldn’t want to turn it of). The core issue here is that the client is failing to know the played/watched status. At this point, since no one else has chimed in, I’m thinking the issue is only with my install. Maybe my server has some history in it that the newer clients are choking on.

Sorry was confused, saw an other thread where when not singing in there is an issue w/ played/unplayed status. Was confused. this is regarding videos not start to play.
