Plex Android: Enable all resolutions

Server Version#: latest today
Player Version#: 9.20 something

I’ve got a big 2560x1600 oled tablet but plex won’t let me choose 4k streaming. The max is 1080p. In VLC I can play h264 4k videos fine on this tablet and there is hardware decode support. Therefore it would make sense to be able to watch 4k videos on it without downscaling them to 1080p. Is there any way to enable higher resolutions in the player?

When playing a 4k file and checking out “Playback info” it says there erroneously “4K playback is not supported on this device”.

This would appear both when playing h264 4k and h265 4k files. Sure, I understand that h265 would need to be transcoded if there isn’t support but why downscale to 1080p needlessly? Offer 4k or 1440p h264 as with all the other resolutions.

At least have an option to TRY other resolutions. If they fail they can be disabled or avoided.
