A week of so ago, Plex quit playing movie extras ripped from blu-rays and DVDs when I use an nVIDIA Shield TV (2017) or the app on my Sony TV (49XBR800E), but still plays movie extras when I use an Apple TV 4K or my Mac mini. These facts suggest that the movie-extras problem is a Plex-Android issue rather than an issue with either the nVIDIA Shield TV or Sony TV. Of course, I might be wrong. If you can fix this issue at your end, I will be grateful. Thank you.
I wrote my post solely to help Plex’s technical folks narrow down possible answers to this problem, which was discussed on May 3. We spent quite a bit of time on file permissions for my NAS.
So it may have been a Plex app issue and not a server issue afterall.
That is interesting. I know the Shield has had some issues, but I have no idea what the status is on those issues. Check out the Shield TV area of the forum for details on the current developments there.
I have no idea how to help with the Apple TV. I do not have one and have not used one before.
Check the Apple TV area of the forum, you are bound to find details on how to show that information if it is available on the Apple TV.
Here are logs I downloaded after trying to play “12 Angry Men” and one of its movie extra files using all of these devices: (1) Fire Stick 4K; (2) Sony TV 48XBR900E; (3) nVIDIA Shield TV (2017); (4) Apple TV 4K; and (5) Mac mini (mid-2011). The Apple TV 4K and Mac mini play the movie and the movie extra file. The three Android devices do not. In fact, the Fire Stick 4K froze when trying to play the movie. Though I seem to recall reading a post in which Plex blames nVIDIA, and nVIDIA blames Plex for the problem, the problem seems to involve many or all Android devices.
